A Comprehensive Acrylic Landscape Painting Tutorial

It would be quite sycophantic to paint nice landscapes with acrylic for a beginner, but it is not as complicated as it seems if you know how to do it. This free lesson will take you by the hand and show you an incredibly easy way to paint an acrylic landscape even if you’ve never lifted a paint brush before.

Here are the tools you will need: an acrylic paint set, a few essential brushes, a canvas, and voila!

Simplifying the Landscape

The idea is to begin with basic constituent blocks that you can then accumulate. Open the window and look at the basic elements in the picture, or take a photo of the landscape where there is grass, sky, trees, hills, and water and try to simplify it even more. For this tutorial, let’s create a picture of a green grassy field blending into hills under a clear blue sky.

Outlining the Composition

To do that, first, you use a pencil and very lightly draw the mass of the basic forms. It is not necessary to dwell on it at the moment. They just need to mark the horizon line, some of the rolling hills, and the meadow in the foreground. It is therefore advised that you should begin by trading in small sizes especially if you are new to binary options trading; when you understand the basics of the system, the size and complexity of your trades can be gradually increased.

Laying the Foundation

Now let’s get some paints! For the sky, take a large brush and apply large blocks of ultramarine blue and white. Gently blend it in circular motions while moving towards the lower part to determine where the sky and the ground connect.

When choosing the colors for your meadow area, use cadmium yellow and viridian, which are greenish-yellow. Rather, give it a very sloppy dry brush, biting the canvas literally ‘with’ the paint, as if you are icing a cake! In the hills, there should be a mix of viridian and burnt umber.

Detailing and Refining

Here’s where it happens, fun starts now! Use finer brushes to add details to the image or to fix other details that may require more precision. Add fluffy clouds using titanium white on the vivid blue layer. Point trees, grasses, and wildflowers throughout the meadow and hills. Paint with yellow ochre using the side of the palette knife and drag it to make formation of rocks and roughness.

This is the best time to let your creativity come out and give the painting as much detail as possible. Acrylics are fast-drying, and you can apply several layers of color in quick succession to create the landscape unfolding right in front of you. Before you know it, you’ll have a completed acrylic painting of a landscape that rivals any painting that could be done by a professional artist!

The Joy of the Process

As you get painting tips in this instance do not mind about the quality because it is not expected. Just sit back, relax, and see your bare canvas painted with bright color and texture. Just be at ease and paint what you want when you visualize this landscape in your mind.

That is the essence of picking up a brush for the first time, to remind yourself of the happiness that comes with being a novice. You can try painting a landscape yourself by the steps given in this tutorial to feel that thrill and learn how to paint landscapes with acrylics.
